Registration is open for the 5th annual Hub City 100 Miler Challenge! This 100-day program starts January 13th and runs through April 22nd, encouraging participants to get active by setting a goal of one mile a day for 100 days by walking, running, biking, or doing 20 minutes of physical activity. The idea is to move your body, your way - from shoveling snow in a neighbor’s driveway or taking a yoga class to going ice skating…the list goes on and on! The ultimate goal is to stay motivated and active in the winter months when it is easy to become stationary. The program encourages registrants to make simple, effective changes to benefit overall health and wellness.
Registered “100 Milers” receive weekly e-newsletters offering motivation, inspiration, ways to get your miles in, opportunities to get connected, stay active, and win weekly and grand prizes over 14 weeks. On Saturday, January 13th, 100 Milers are invited to the program’s kick-off event to achieve their first official mile as a team at Fairgrounds Park beginning at 1:00 p.m.
The Hub City 100 Miler program is self-reporting, so each individual is responsible for keeping track of his or her own progress. There are two ways to help 100 Milers track their mileage: the paper Miles Tracking Form or the virtual tracking portal, where participants can sync their FitBit or digital tracking device to the “Challenge Runner” app, which will automatically track miles logged: https://www.challengerunner.com/Join. The ultimate goal is 1 mile a day for 100 days.
