Traffic Advisory: Pavement Preservation Program Locations

The City’s 2017 Pavement Preservation program will begin the week of July 31st, and continue into October.  Work crews from C. William Hetzer, Inc. and their subcontractors will be filling cracks in the existing pavement, patching deteriorated areas, and milling and paving streets at various locations around the City.  While the schedule is weather-dependent, the contractor anticipates working on the following streets over the next two weeks:

Crack Filling:

Eldridge Drive (Bowman Ave. to cul-de-sac)

Eastern Boulevard (Memorial Blvd. to Frederick Street)

Willow Circle (entire street, both sections)

Connecticut Avenue (Rhode Island Ave. to Marshall St.)

Water Street (N. Mont Valla Ave. to Park Ave.)

N. Mont Valla Avenue (Washington St. to Water St.)

Church Street (Potomac St. to Burhans Blvd.)

Wayne Avenue (Carroll Heights Blvd. to Glenwood Ave.)

Pennsylvania Avenue (Prospect Ave. to City Line)

Park Lane (Oak Hill Ave. to Forrest Drive)

Summit Avenue (Memorial Blvd. to Howard St.)

Motorists approaching these work areas will encounter flagmen, cones, barricades, and other traffic control devices.  Temporary lane closures and lane shifts will be required to provide adequate space to perform the work.  While the contractor anticipates keeping at least one lane of traffic open on these streets, congestion and delays are likely near the work areas.  Additional advisories will be distributed as necessary.  It is anticipated that the Pavement Preservation work will be completed by the end of October.

Emergency vehicles will be able to pass through all of the work areas, but dispatchers should be aware that delays and congestion are likely.
